Question 1

How often do you provide pool service?

Accepted Answer

Regular pool service is provided weekly.

Question 2

What is included with weekly pool service?

Accepted Answer

Weekly service includes routine cleaning, skimming debris, emptying skimmer baskets, brushing and vacuuming as needed, monitoring filter condition and pressure, water testing and chemical adjustment, and checking relevant pool equipment. Service details may vary with the pool and its equipment.

Question 3

Are chemicals included?

Accepted Answer

Normal service chemicals are included according to your weekly service agreement. Corrective treatments, specialty treatments, replacement parts and other non-routine work may be quoted separately.

Question 4

Do I need to be home for service?

Accepted Answer

No. As long as we have reliable access to the pool, you do not need to be home. After the visit, your service report documents the work, water readings and photographs.

Question 5

Do I receive a service report?

Accepted Answer

Yes. After regular service visits, customers receive a service report that includes before and after pool images, an image of the filter pressure gauge, and visit documentation.

Question 6

Will my pool be serviced on the same day each week?

Accepted Answer

We organize customers on regular weekly routes and aim to keep service days consistent. Weather, holidays, route changes or other operating conditions can occasionally require an adjustment.

Question 7

Are equipment repairs included in weekly service?

Accepted Answer

No. During weekly service we observe the visible pool equipment and let you know when something appears to need attention. Repairs, replacement parts and upgrades are separate work and require approval before proceeding.

Question 8

What happens during heavy rain or severe weather?

Accepted Answer

Safety and weather conditions can sometimes limit normal cleaning work. When severe weather prevents a full service visit, Turtle Pool Care may adjust the service performed or the route based on conditions. Customers can contact us if additional cleaning is needed.

Question 9

My pool uses well water. Does that change service?

Accepted Answer

It can. Well water may introduce iron, minerals, tannins or other source-water conditions that affect pool chemistry and staining. We evaluate the actual condition rather than treating every well-water pool the same way.

Question 10

What do the numbers in my service report mean?

Accepted Answer

Your report includes chlorine, pH, total alkalinity, CYA, salt where applicable, and filter PSI. Chlorine shows sanitizer level, pH measures how acidic or basic the water is, total alkalinity helps buffer pH, CYA helps protect chlorine from sunlight, salt monitors salt-system operating conditions, and filter PSI shows resistance through the filtration system tracked relative to your pool's normal clean pressure.

Question 11

Do you service saltwater pools?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Turtle Pool Care services saltwater pools and can test salinity, inspect salt-chlorination systems, diagnose production issues, and service or replace salt-system components as appropriate. Saltwater pools still require normal water-chemistry management.

Question 12

Do you repair pool equipment?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Turtle Pool Care diagnoses and repairs pool equipment including pumps, filters, valves, plumbing, chlorinators, lighting, heaters, and related equipment.

Question 13

Do you install or upgrade pool equipment?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Equipment can be replaced or upgraded when existing equipment is at the end of its useful life, impractical to repair, or when the customer wants an appropriate upgrade.

Question 14

Do you work with pool automation?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Turtle Pool Care installs, troubleshoots, repairs, and upgrades compatible pool automation systems. Depending on the system, automation may control pumps, lights, heaters or chillers, spas, valves, schedules, and mobile control.

Question 15

Do you work on pool heaters and chillers?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Turtle Pool Care works with pool heaters, heat pumps, chillers, and compatible heating/cooling systems, including installation, diagnosis, repair, replacement, maintenance, and temperature-control issues.

Question 16

Why does my pool have a strong chlorine smell?

Accepted Answer

A strong "chlorine" odor is often associated with combined chlorine compounds formed as chlorine reacts with contaminants. It can mean the water chemistry and sanitation need attention rather than simply meaning there is too much chlorine.

Question 17

Why does pool water sometimes sting my eyes?

Accepted Answer

Eye or skin irritation can have several causes, including pH that is out of balance, combined chlorine and other water-quality conditions. We look at the overall chemistry rather than assuming one cause.

Question 18

Why is my pool cloudy even if it isn't green?

Accepted Answer

Cloudy water can be caused by filtration or circulation problems, chemistry imbalance, suspended material, early algae growth or other conditions. The correct fix depends on the cause.

Question 19

Why does my pool turn brown or green when chlorine is added?

Accepted Answer

If metals such as iron are present, chlorine can oxidize them and make the discoloration much more visible. This is especially important where well water is involved. We evaluate the condition before choosing treatment.

Question 20

Why do you pay more attention to calcium hardness in cooler weather?

Accepted Answer

Water temperature is one part of overall water balance. As temperatures fall, the relationship between calcium, pH, alkalinity and the rest of the chemistry changes, so we pay additional attention to calcium hardness and surface protection during cooler periods.

Question 21

Can well water make calcium hardness increase over time?

Accepted Answer

It can if the source water contains significant dissolved calcium. Water evaporates but the minerals do not, so repeated top-off with mineral-rich well water can gradually increase calcium and other dissolved solids in the pool.

Question 22

Do saltwater pools still need testing?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Saltwater pools still need chlorine, pH, alkalinity, stabilizer and overall water balance monitored. Salt replaces neither testing nor normal pool chemistry management.

Question 23

What areas do you service?

Accepted Answer

Turtle Pool Care serves the approved communities and confirmed ZIP codes listed on our service areas page. Availability can still depend on the property and current route availability, so please provide your ZIP code to confirm service.

Question 24

How do I start pool service?

Accepted Answer

Contact Turtle Pool Care and provide your ZIP code and basic pool information. Service availability depends on current route availability.

Question 25

How do I request an estimate?

Accepted Answer

Use the Request a Free Estimate form or call Turtle Pool Care at 561-231-2221. Provide your ZIP code and basic information about the pool so we can review the request.

Question 26

Can you clean up a green pool?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Green-to-Clean service is intended for green, algae-affected, or neglected pools. Treatment may involve chemistry correction, brushing, filtration, circulation, and follow-up visits depending on the pool's condition.

Question 27

Will you need to drain my pool?

Accepted Answer

Most green pools can be treated without draining, but the correct approach depends on the pool condition, water chemistry, debris, equipment and surface. We evaluate the pool before recommending a drain or any other major corrective step.

Question 28

How long will Green-to-Clean take?

Accepted Answer

The number of visits and total time vary based on the severity of the condition, how long the pool has been green, debris load, filtration, circulation and equipment condition. Turtle Pool Care does not promise a fixed number of days. We quote the Green-to-Clean job and continue the process until the pool is blue, clear and balanced.

Question 29

What if it takes more visits than expected?

Accepted Answer

The agreed Green-to-Clean price is for the job, not a preset number of visits. If additional Green-to-Clean visits are required to reach blue, clear and balanced condition, we continue under the agreed job price. Equipment repairs, replacement parts and unrelated corrective work are separate.

Question 30

Can you fix the pump or filter if that caused the problem?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Turtle Pool Care provides pool equipment repair and upgrade services. If equipment work is needed during Green-to-Clean, we provide the applicable recommendation or work order for approval before performing the repair.

Question 31

Is it safe to swim during Green-to-Clean?

Accepted Answer

Do not swim while the pool is undergoing corrective treatment unless Turtle Pool Care has advised that the water conditions are appropriate for swimming. Treatment and swim guidance depend on the chemicals used and current water conditions.

Question 32

Could green or brown water be metals instead of algae?

Accepted Answer

Yes. In some pools, especially where well water or metals are involved, oxidation can make the water appear green, brown or tea-colored. We evaluate the condition before choosing treatment rather than assuming every green pool is algae.

Question 33

Do I have to sign up for weekly pool service afterward?

Accepted Answer

Green-to-Clean is available as a corrective service. Weekly Pool Service is available afterward if you would like Turtle Pool Care to maintain the pool and help keep the water and equipment under regular observation.

Question 34

Do you provide acid washing or stain removal?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Turtle Pool Care can evaluate pool staining and use appropriate stain-removal methods for mineral, metal, or organic staining. Acid washing may be considered where appropriate for the pool finish and condition after the surface is assessed.

Question 35

Do you provide new-pool startup service?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Turtle Pool Care provides startup care for new or resurfaced pools, including brushing, testing and balancing water chemistry, monitoring circulation and filtration, and managing the pool during the initial curing/startup period.

Question 36

Doesn't my pool builder handle startup?

Accepted Answer

Sometimes. Startup responsibility varies by builder and resurfacing contractor. Turtle Pool Care can handle the full startup, take over after the builder's initial stage, or follow project-specific startup requirements when provided.

Question 37

How long does startup take?

Accepted Answer

There is no one startup timeline for every pool. The finish, water conditions, equipment and applicable builder or manufacturer requirements determine the schedule.

Question 38

When can I swim in my new pool?

Accepted Answer

Swimming should wait until the applicable startup requirements and water conditions allow it. Turtle Pool Care advises the customer based on the specific project rather than using one universal day count.

Question 39

Why is there white dust in my new pool?

Accepted Answer

Fresh cementitious finishes can release fine startup material commonly called plaster dust. Brushing helps move it into circulation so it can be filtered rather than remaining on the surface.

Question 40

When can I add salt or turn on the salt system?

Accepted Answer

That depends on the finish and applicable startup instructions. Salt and salt-chlorine generation are introduced at the appropriate point for the individual project.

Question 41

When can I turn on the heater?

Accepted Answer

The correct timing depends on the finish and startup requirements. Turtle Pool Care does not use one universal heater-on date.

Question 42

When can I use my robot or automatic cleaner?

Accepted Answer

Some fresh finishes have restrictions on automatic cleaning equipment during startup. We advise when it is appropriate based on the specific finish and startup plan.

Question 43

Do resurfaced pools need startup service too?

Accepted Answer

Yes. A freshly resurfaced pool has a new interior finish even if the pool itself is older, so it needs appropriate startup care before transitioning into normal maintenance.

Question 44

Will startup protect my surface warranty?

Accepted Answer

Turtle Pool Care can follow builder, resurfacer or finish-manufacturer startup instructions when they are provided. Warranty terms are controlled by the applicable manufacturer, builder or contractor, so Turtle Pool Care does not guarantee warranty coverage.

Question 45

Why is water chemistry important?

Accepted Answer

Balanced water chemistry helps protect pool surfaces and equipment while supporting effective sanitation and reducing problems such as scaling, corrosion, staining, and unnecessary equipment wear.

Question 46

Why is my pool pump humming but not running?

Accepted Answer

A humming pump can have several causes, including a failed capacitor, a seized motor, a jammed impeller or another electrical or mechanical issue. The correct repair depends on what is actually preventing the motor or pump from starting.

Question 47

Why are there air bubbles coming from my pool returns?

Accepted Answer

Air bubbles usually indicate air entering the suction side of the circulation system. Common causes include low water level, a leaking pump-lid seal, suction plumbing leaks, or leaking diverter valves and valve O-rings.

Question 48

Can a leaking Jandy-style valve cause bubbles?

Accepted Answer

Yes. A worn diverter valve, valve lid or O-ring on the suction side can allow air into the system even when there is little or no visible water leak. That can create bubbles, noisy operation or loss of prime.

Question 49

Why is my filter pressure high?

Accepted Answer

A dirty or restricted cartridge filter is a common cause, but high pressure can also result from a valve-position problem or another return-side restriction. We compare the reading with that pool's normal clean pressure and evaluate the whole circulation system.

Question 50

Why is my pool pump losing prime?

Accepted Answer

Common causes include low water level, suction-side air leaks, pump-lid or O-ring problems, valve leaks, clogged suction lines or other circulation issues.

Question 51

Should I repair or replace my old pump?

Accepted Answer

That depends on what failed, the condition of the equipment, repair cost, parts availability, energy use and expected remaining life. We explain both options when a repair is possible but replacement may make better long-term sense.

Question 52

Do I have to replace my old single-speed pump with a variable-speed pump?

Accepted Answer

For many residential pool-pump applications, current federal efficiency standards mean that compliant replacement equipment is variable speed. The exact replacement depends on the existing pump, motor and application, so we verify the appropriate equipment rather than assuming every installation is identical.

Question 53

Should I get a heat pump or a gas heater?

Accepted Answer

It depends on how you use the pool. A heat pump is often well suited to maintaining comfortable water temperature over longer periods, while a gas heater is useful when rapid temperature increase or spa heating is the priority. We evaluate the pool and usage pattern before recommending equipment.

Question 54

Why is my heat pump running but not heating?

Accepted Answer

Possible causes include insufficient water flow, a dirty cartridge filter, control/settings issues, ambient conditions, sensors or equipment faults. The correct diagnosis depends on the specific unit and operating conditions.

Question 55

Can a heat pump cool my pool?

Accepted Answer

Yes, if it is a heat/cool or reversible model designed for active cooling. Standard heat-only models do not provide the same cooling function.

Question 56

Why is there water under my heat pump?

Accepted Answer

Heat pumps can produce a significant amount of normal condensation while operating. Water underneath the unit is not automatically a plumbing or equipment leak, but active leakage should be distinguished from normal condensate.

Question 57

Why does my heater keep shutting off?

Accepted Answer

Repeated shutdown can be related to water flow, a dirty cartridge filter, controls, sensors, safety lockouts or an equipment fault. Error codes and operating conditions help narrow the cause.

Question 58

Why does my heater show a low-flow error?

Accepted Answer

Heating equipment needs adequate circulation. A dirty cartridge filter, valve-position issue, pump problem or plumbing restriction can reduce flow enough to trigger a warning or shutdown.

Question 59

Can one system heat in winter and cool in summer?

Accepted Answer

Yes. A reversible heat/cool pool heat pump can provide both functions when the model is designed for heating and cooling.

Question 60

How warm can you make my pool?

Accepted Answer

The achievable water temperature depends on the equipment, pool size, ambient conditions, heat loss, cover use and desired operating cost. We do not use one universal temperature promise for every pool.

Question 61

How long do pool heat pumps last?

Accepted Answer

Service life varies with equipment quality, installation, operating hours, water chemistry, environment and maintenance. We evaluate the actual condition rather than recommending replacement based on age alone.

Question 62

Do I need electrical, gas or permit work for a new heater?

Accepted Answer

Requirements depend on the equipment and installation. Where electrical, gas, refrigerant, permitting or other licensed trade work is required outside Turtle Pool Care's scope, we coordinate with the appropriate trade.

Question 63

My pool app stopped working after I changed my Wi-Fi. Can you fix it?

Accepted Answer

Yes, Turtle Pool Care can help diagnose whether the automation system lost network connectivity, needs app/controller reconfiguration or has another communication problem.

Question 64

Why does my pool automation app say offline?

Accepted Answer

Possible causes include internet or router changes, a lost network connection, controller communication issues, power interruptions or configuration problems. The correct fix depends on the specific system.
